Westerville Schools cares about our students long before they enter kindergarten! We provide many services, and we serve as a resource to the families of our community. Information specific to families of preschool-age families can be found in the Family Resource Section of this site. Additionally, our staff is always available for families who have questions about typical child development or specific concerns about their own child’s development.
When we are contacted by a parent or agency in the community, we listen to the concerns and help distinguish between what is typical development and what could be a disability.
If a disability is suspected, our team conducts an evaluation to determine whether or not the child is eligible for special education services. This evaluation is a team process, and the parent is an essential team member!
Because public schools are required by federal law to educate children with disabilities beginning on their 3rd birthday, we serve students in a variety of ways.
One of these ways in through our preschool program that services our students who are found eligible for special education services. In addition to our special education services, our center provides learning experiences for children in all areas of Ohio's Early Learning Standards. In the center, our students with disabilities learn side-by-side with typically developing peers who attend on a tuition basis.
If you have concerns about your child, we can be reached at 614-797-7450.
