WNHS kicks off the school year with annual yellow rose ceremony
Westerville North High School kicked off a new school year with its annual yellow rose ceremony, which sets the tone for seniors embarking on their last year of high school and gives freshmen a chance to see what awaits them in the future.
On Friday, Principal Kurt Yancey, along with other school administrators, staff and family members, welcomed the Class of 2024 to their yellow rose ceremony, the 17th anniversary of the annual event.
Seniors received single-stemmed yellow roses before the start of the event. Yancey reminded them of the pledge they signed as freshmen of their commitment to graduate. Class of 2024 student officers addressed their peers with speeches, offering encouragement for the year ahead and reflecting on their time at school.
After the ceremony, freshmen gathered for a special assembly where Yancey encouraged them to follow the path of their older peers and committed to supporting them through their high school journey. They signed a banner where they pledged to graduate on time.
