Rotary Club of Westerville Students of the Month for February 2024

The Rotary Club of Westerville recognized its February 2024 Students of the Month during a Feb. 1 meeting. Throughout the school year, from October through May, the Club honors four students from local high schools each month. Working with the school principals and counselors, one student each month is chosen from Westerville Central, Westerville North, Westerville South and St. Francis DeSales high schools. The students, their parents, and the school administrators are introduced and honored at a Rotary Club luncheon each month.

February 2024 Honoree Profiles

Westerville Central: Andrew Wang’s favorite subjects are math and science. The senior is captain of the swim and golf teams, serves as co-president of National Honor Society and is a member of the Climbing Club, Superintendent Advisory Council and Lettermans Leadership Club. Among the awards and accolades he’s received: AP Scholar with Distinction, Academic Honor Roll, Outstanding Scholar Athlete, National Merit Commended Student, U.S. Presidential Scholar Candidate. His Global Scholars project is focused on a Green Day project. He plans to attend the Ohio State University to study computer engineering.

Westerville North: Madelyn Bosler’s favorite subjects are chemistry and American Sign Language. She is captain of the swim and dive teams, a member of the Warrior Athletic Leadership Team where she helped support WNHS’ AllN Olympics for high school student athletes of all abilities and was involved in the Warrior Way Leadership Summit. She is part of the Hydra Aquatics Swim Club and is involved in Lifepoint Church, where she is a member of the student youth group and serves as a K-1 teacher. She and her family sponsored two kids in Africa through a program called Children’s HopeChest, and recently returned to Africa to visit them and serve the community. Among her awards and accolades: academic excellence in Math, English & Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, World Language and Visual & Performing Arts; academic letter; WNHS AllN award; and All-Ohio honors at the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s state swim meet during her junior year. She has been a state qualifier in swimming for multiple years. She plans to study middle education at the University of Akron, where she will be a member of the university’s swim team. “I would like to thank the Rotary for this exciting opportunity. It’s an honor to be chosen.” 

Westerville South: Abby Sang’s favorite subjects are math and science. She is a member of the Black Student Union, National Honor Society, Melanted Queens, Interact Club, Power to Poets Club as well as the track and soccer teams. She participates in the Black History Month performance and serves as a Hope Squad student leader. She has volunteered for The Big Bus and W.A.R.M. Among the awards and accolades she’s received: Cats With Class, academic letter, honor roll, Scholar Athlete Award and Student of the Month. She plans to study software engineering at Miami University.

St. Francis DeSales: Ava Faiella’s favorite subjects are science and language arts. She is president and founder of the Saint Francis DeSales Alzheimer Awareness Club and is a member of the volleyball and swimming teams. She also participates in the drama club/theater. She serves as a seventh-grade girls volleyball coach for St. Paul Catholic School and volunteers at the Ganzhorn Suites Memory Care Center. She is a member of National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. She plans to study neuroscience at Ohio State University. “I am so thankful to have been received student of the month and I appreciate having the opportunity to share more about my interests and experiences outside of the classroom environment.”
