Genoa Middle School seventh-grader receives top honor at National History Day competition
Cambria Hudberg, a seventh-grader at Genoa Middle School, received the Outstanding Entry for Ohio, Junior level at the National History Day competition in June.
Hudberg, who attended the competition at the University of Maryland with Genoa media specialist Deanna McDaniel, was awarded for her exhibit, “The Painful Discovery of Anesthesia.”
McDaniel and social studies teacher Lori Howland served as her teachers for the project last school year.
National History Day engages more than half a million students every year in conducting original research on historical topics of interest. Students present their research as a documentary, exhibit, paper, performance or website. Projects compete first at the local and state levels, where the top entries are invited to the National Contest at the University of Maryland.
