Fifth-annual WCSD African-American Read-In event Feb. 24
Westerville students, families, staff and community members are invited to the fifth-annual African-American Read-In 10 a.m. - noon on Feb. 24 at Minerva Park Middle School.
Young adult novelist and educator Torrey Maldonado will serve as the guest speaker for the event, which encourages community members to read together and celebrate African-American literature.
The National African-American Read-In was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. The African-American Read-In is the longest running literacy event that features diverse literature in our country.
