Minerva France Elementary’s PTA is ramping up their resources to help families support their kids’ mental and emotional needs.

Thanks to a $2,500 Healthy Minds grant from the National PTA, the school’s PTA plans to host specialized events this school year to help raise awareness about the value of mental health and social and emotional learning.

“I envision the funds allow us to provide examples of social-emotional learning at school plus find effective, engaging ways to apply those same practices outside of school as a resource for our families,” Minerva France Principal Tyson Hilkert said.

Minerva France is the only elementary school in Ohio to receive the Healthy Minds grant and is among three Ohio schools awarded a grant from the National PTA this school year.

The school’s PTA members are currently planning the mental health and wellness learning sessions for their families. Dates are still being determined.

“This is both an honor and a privilege,” said Brittany Landers, who serves as the sponsorship and grants coordinator for Minerva France’s PTA. “Being awarded funding during our formative year is fantastic. It provides our PTA with the financial and tangible resources needed to positively impact our students and school-family community in ways that align with this warm, welcoming culture of inclusivity our staff members have already created.”

More details about Minerva France PTA’s efforts, including its future plans for the Healthy Minds initiative, will soon be available on the group’s website and social media platforms.
