The creation of National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, which always falls on the first Saturday in February, is attributed to New York homemaker and mother of six Florence Rappaport.  Many years ago, when her kids were bored and stuck inside because of a heavy snowfall, Rappaport suggested ice cream for breakfast (clearly a “groovy” idea in the 1960s).  Decades later, support for the alternative “most important meal of the day” is gaining momentum.

The movement finally landed in the Transportation Department at Westerville City Schools where, on February 4, Student Safety and Discipline Coordinator Alan Hunt took it upon himself to scoop up some frozen treats for bus drivers, mechanics and support staff.  Frigid temperatures did not seem to be an issue.  Mark your calendar for February 1, 2020.  No judgement.
