COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP LISTING

Please read the eligibility requirements for each scholarship.  You may apply for as many community scholarships as you wish provided you meet the qualifications.

Students must provide a copy of all materials for each scholarship for which they want to be considered (i.e. , if you are applying for 3 scholarships you must submit 3 sets of all required materials).   Please keep an additional master copy of your application materials for your records!  Completed applications and all supporting documents must be returned to the Guidance Office by January 10, 2020.


District Wide Scholarships:
One and/or more scholarships will be awarded to students in any of Westerville’s three high schools.

_____    BLENDON LODGE #339 F. &A.M. SCHOLARSHIP:  Three, $500 scholarships will be awarded to seniors in any     of the three Westerville high schools who possess at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. This scholarship takes into consideration academic achievement, letters of recommendation, extra-curricular activities, community service and financial need. The following information is required and should be included in step 5 of the Community Scholarship Application:  1) Gross Family income; 2) Any known or expected college financial assistance. Winner will be expected to provide an invoice from the college for payment.

_____    CURT JACKOWSKI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  One, $1000.00 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior of Westerville City School District. 3.0 GPA required. Essay outlining academic achievement, community service and financial need is required. Two (2) letters of recommendation are also required; one (1) from a Westerville City School District educator and one (1) from a Westerville community resident. _____    JEFFREY COPELAND ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD FOR ENGINEERING STUDIES OF THE COLUMBUS FOUNDATION:  Candidates must be graduating seniors of a Westerville City Schools High School; plan to pursue a degree in engineering; have a minimum 3.0 grade point average by the end of the first semester of senior year; and plan to attend a four-year college or university. Preference may be given to those attending a “Big 10 college or university. For this scholarship, a copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA is required. The SAR is the result of completing the FAFSA forms and must be included in the initial application. Award amount:  $2,000.  To view the scholarship guidelines, please click here.

_____    DAVID FINKELSTEIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  David S. Finkelstein Memorial Scholarship:  This 4 year scholarship of $16,000-$20,000 is divided among 4 award recipients from WNHS, WCHS, and WSHS. Each applicant must write a brief explanation of how the death of a family member or friend affected his/her choice of colleges, degree pursuits, and/or life goals. 4 winners receive $500 each and a 30 minute interview. An additional $2,000-$3,000 will be divided among the winners after the interviews. In addition, after completing years 1, 2, and 3 of college, the 4 recipients will interview for a share of an additional $4,000-$5,000 each year.

Each applicant must be accepted to an accredited 4 year college or university. There is a maximum of 5 applicants per Westerville high school.

_____    GENOA TOWNSHIP BUSINESS ASSOCIATION:  Two, $1000 one-time Scholarships are available. A graduating senior who resides in Genoa Township and is continuing his/her education at an accredited post-secondary institution is eligible to apply. A supplemental, one page, double spaced 12.5 font essay describing how post-secondary opportunities and receiving this business association scholarship will help you give back to Genoa Township is required. NOTE:  Letter of Recommendation must be from a non-relative.   

_____    THE LORI SHERMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: This $250 Scholarship was created in memory of Lori Sherman, better known to McVay students as, “Our Lunch Lady”. Lori’s positive and generous nature allowed her to use the ordinary moments of the school day to make extraordinary differences to all at McVay. This $250 Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior of Westerville City Schools who attended McVay Elementary for a minimum of 3 years. This academically deserving student must have a military commitment or have been accepted to an accredited college, university or vocational school.

_____    THE MIKE CHUDIK MEMORIAL BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP:  Three, $1000 scholarships will be awarded:  1) Student must be pursuing a business or entrepreneurship major at a 2-year or 4-year institution; 2) Applicant must complete brief questionnaire here:  http://networkingprofessionalsofcolumbus.com/npc-business-scholarship/.

_____    MEDALLION SCHOLARSHIP: Scholarship(s) totaling up to $2,000.00 shall be available to any senior(s) who resides within the 43081 and 43082 zip code who will graduate in the Spring, 2020 and, within 12 months of   graduation, will pursue further education at a two-year or four-year college or university,  a vocational or technical college, a trade school, or pursue a career requiring further education which the scholarship committee deems appropriate for the awarding of this/these scholarship(s). Sons and daughters of Medallion members are ineligible for the award.

For this scholarship, a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) from the FAFSA is required. The SAR is the result of completing the FAFSA forms and must be included in the initial application.

_____    WESTERVILLE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION / FAITH PRUDEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  This $2000 Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who will be attending a traditional or non-traditional college studying cosmetology, the arts, culinary studies or fire services. _____    WESTERVILLE EDUCATION CHALLENGE SCHOLARSHIP:  Three (3) $500 scholarships, one at each high school, are available for a graduating student in Westerville City Schools. Student must have been a participant in the Challenge Day program held at Central, North or South high school. Student must be accepted to a 2 or 4 year accredited college, university, technical school or military academy. Applicant must also include a paragraph summarizing what the Challenge Day experience meant to them and what they learned from the experience.

_____    WESTERVILLE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION – OTTERBEIN:  This is a $1500 award for a student who will be attending Otterbein University in the upcoming year. The focus is on students who have demonstrated leadership and/or outstanding participation in volunteer, charitable and community service organizations. All applicants must supply THREE copies of the application and supporting materials. Finalists must attend an interview with Westerville Scholarship Foundation Review and Selection team and be willing to volunteer at a Foundation Fundraiser.

_____    WESTERVILLE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION – TECHNICAL/TRADE SCHOOL: is a $1500 award for a student who will be attending a technical or trade school. The focus is on students who have demonstrated leadership and/or outstanding participation in volunteer, charitable and community service organizations. All applicants must supply THREE copies of the application and supporting materials. Finalists must attend an interview with the Westerville Scholarship Foundation Review and Selection team and be willing to volunteer at a Foundation Fundraiser.

_____    THE WESTERVILLE FIRE FIGHTERS’ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to an individual pursuing a career in Fire/Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Applications will be evaluated on the following criteria: academic achievement, community and school involvement, financial need, relevance of field of study, and an explanation of how applicant plans to make a difference with his/her career plans. _____    WESTERVILLE ROTARY CLUB OHIO SCHOLARSHIPS:  This is a $10,000 scholarship awarded to a qualified student from Westerville North, South, Central or St Francis DeSales who will be attending a college/university in the Fall of 2020 as a full time student. This is paid out as a one-time award. Qualifications for this scholarship are: 

  1. Must be a full time student senior that attends Westerville South, Westerville Central, Westerville North or St Francis DeSales graduating during the year of the award.
  2. Must be accepted or applied to a college or university located in the State of Ohio.
  3. Children or grandchildren of Westerville Rotarians are not eligible for this award.
  4. Consideration is focused on a student that exemplifies   “Service Above Self”. Students MUST complete the following "Service Above Self" Essay Question:  Please tell us about any experiences that have influenced your life using our theme of "Service Above Self"
  5. Any letters of recommendation should highlight how the student has been an example of "Service Above Self"
  6. Be sure to indicate within your application if you have had experience with the Rotary Club of Westerville (Student of the Month or have volunteered at a Rotary event. )

The Rotary Scholarship Committee with review all applications that are submitted by the deadline and at their discretion, will invite applicants for a personal interview. Committee decisions are final and not subject to appeal. All candidates that are invited to interview will be notified via email whether they are selected or not selected as the scholarship winner.


Westerville North High School Scholarships:
One and/or more scholarships will be awarded to students at Westerville North High School.

______    ANTHONY P. MORELLI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Two (2) $500 scholarships shall be given to senior students at Westerville North High School. This scholarship was established to recognize senior students who exemplify the dedication, servant leadership and love for one’s community as Officer Morelli displayed in his time with the Westerville Police Department and Westerville City Schools.

Criteria include the following:

  • Must have at least a cumulative 3.5 GPA
  • Must be a Westerville North senior who completed at least 20 hours of community service during their time at Westerville North High School
  • Submit a one page essay discussing your role as a servant leader during your community service hours and how it has helped shape your perspective on assisting others in the Westerville community both now and in the future
  • Submit proof of community service hours to Mrs. McGeorge, Westerville North High School Assistant Principal
  • Completion of the Westerville North  Community Scholarship Application

_____    CHILDREN SUPPORTING CHILDREN:  Two (2) $250 scholarships. Student must be attending Westerville Central or Westerville North currently. Student must have done a minimum of one community service project and we are asking for a short paragraph describing their experience. We want to give this scholarship to a student who is passionate about helping others in need and has had experience with community service.

_____    KOCH FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP:  One $500 award. Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, have an IEP while at Westerville North, plan to pursue higher education at either a two year or four-year accredited academic institution. In addition to Community Scholarship application, submit one letter of reference from a WNHS teacher/staff member and a one-page essay explaining why an applicant’s personal qualities make them the best recipient of this scholarship-essay may include financial need information. _____    GREG FARNHAM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  Two, +/- $10,000 awards (one to a male & one to a female applicant). The applicants must be scholar athletes, earned a minimum Cum GPA 3.0, earned a varsity letter in a sport and plans to attend an Ohio college or university. Submit three letters of recommendation: one from a teacher, one from a WNHS varsity coach, and one from a peer. Submit a personal letter to the selection committee explaining interests, values, and career goals. If needed, recommendation forms are in the Pupil Services Office.

_____    KRISTOPHER LEE SWIGER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  Two(2), one male, one female  $500.00 scholarships in memory of Kris Swiger will be awarded to a 4 year graduating senior of Westerville North High School. The applicant must be an athlete who best exemplifies the Warrior Way and shows true determination for their goals, family and community. This scholarship will not be based on GPA but awarded to an individual who is a hard worker, great teammate and an asset to their community. Applicant must plan to attend a vocational school, have a military commitment or future in law/fire enforcement. Please submit the following. A letter describing how you have made an impact on your team, family and/or community as well as one obstacle you over came and how you handled. A coach/teacher recommendation letter.

_____    BUCKEYE SCHOLASTIC MAKE A DIFFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP:  Two, $250 Scholarships will be awarded. Many students go above and beyond in their everyday life without knowing they are appreciated. We would like to acknowledge two students for striving to improve not only their life, but someone else’s as well. Minimum 2.75 GPA is required with plans to further his/her education. _____    NATALIE J. SCHAUBLIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: One $1,000.00 annual award paid directly to an accredited college or university on behalf of the chosen student. These are the minimum criteria for consideration: a graduating senior of WNHS with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, acceptance into an accredited community college or 4 year college or university, completion of all requirements related to the Westerville City Schools Community Scholarship Application and supporting documentation, Supplemental Requirements include a one-page essay explaining why the student feels his/her personal qualifications make him/her the best recipient of this scholarship including the desire to pursue post-secondary education in the education or business fields plus two reference letters (one from a current or retired Westerville City Schools teacher or administrator and one from a personal reference such as a coach, neighbor, pastor, family friend or employer)  Click here for more information about this scholarship.  

_____    PERRY'S "PERFORMANCE IN MUSIC" SCHOLARSHIP: One $250 Scholarship given by the Perry family (Teresa, Jeff, Tyler and Jordyn) is available to one student in Orchestra/Band/Marching Band pursing a primary or secondary degree in Music. The student must have participated in the Westerville North music program for at least one year. The student should use the Community Scholarship Application form and should include a short essay describing what impact music has had in his/her life and why he/she should receive the scholarship.

_____    ULTIMATE WARRIOR SCHOLARSHIP:    One, $1000 Scholarship will be awarded to the college, university of technical school of the recipient’s choice. Applicant must be a WNHS graduate with a cum GPA of 2.5 or higher, have competed on the wrestling team at North, complete the Community Scholarship Application, submit a one-page essay discussing a time when the applicant faced an obstacle, how he/she persevered through the obstacle and what he/she learned from the experience and submit one letter of reference from a WNHS teacher/staff member. _____    WE ARE WARRIORS SCHOLARSHIP: A one-time award up to $500.00 shall be given to one male AND one female senior athlete at Westerville North High School. Student must be a Westerville North senior that participated in at least one athletic season during their senior year. Must have at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA. Completion of the Westerville North Community Scholarship Application. Submit a one page essay discussing how being a Warrior athlete has prepared you for the real world AND share the importance of being committed and coachable when participating in high school athletics. _____    WESTERVILE NORTH CLASS OF 1993 SCHOLARSHIP: Two, $250 scholarship to a graduate that exemplifies the Warrior Way, plans to make an impact and give back to Westerville North after high school and/or the Westerville community, have been involved in extracurricular activities, have had leadership roles at North and have plans to attend a 2 or 4 year school after graduation. Please share this information in an essay form.

_____    WESTERVILLE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN (AAUW):  $750 award. Applicant must be female. Applicants will be evaluated on the following standards:  Academic standing (GPA and class rank), SAT and/or ACT results (SAT 600 in major area, 500 in other areas; ACT minimum – 24), scope of activities, community service/leadership, work performed, personal essay, articulation of goals and financial need. Extra consideration will be given to applicants who have overcome a major obstacle, or who lack a network of support for future schooling. Please complete “Instruction 5” in order to cover financial need, goals and information about your obstacle and support.

_____    WESTERVILLE EDUCATION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP (W.E.A.):  A scholarship award will be offered for a student planning a career in the education profession. The exact dollar amount is yet to be determined.

_____    WESTERVILLE EDUCATION FOUNDATION:  One, $1000 award guaranteed to a North student. A 3.0 grade point average is required.

_____    WESTERVILLE EDUCATION SUPPORT STAFF ASSOCIATION (W.E.S.S.A.):  One, $300 award is available. Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA, some community service and show financial need. Applicants should attach a short essay on how he/she plans to use the scholarship dollars.

_____    WESTERVILLE KIWANIS SCHOLARSHIP:  One, $1200 scholarship is available. Finalists will be required to attend an interview with Kiwanis members. Applicants may be required to bring a copy of their FAFSA form to the interview.

_____    WESTERVILLE LIONS CLUB MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS:  Two, $1000 scholarships are available. Finalists must attend an interview with Lions Club members.

_____    WESTERVILLE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION:  This is a $1500 award. The focus is on a student who has demonstrated leadership and/or outstanding participation in volunteer, charitable and community service organizations. All applicants must supply THREE copies of the application and supporting materials. Finalists must attend an interview with the Westerville Scholarship Foundation Review and Selection team and be willing to volunteer at a Foundation Fundraiser.


Westerville Parent Organization Scholarships:

_____    WESTERVILLE PARENT COUNCIL “MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN WESTERVILLE” SCHOLARSHIP:  One, $500 Scholarship is available to a student graduating from a Westerville City Schools high school where one is a difference maker through leadership, service, participation and/or meaningful job within the Westerville community. Please include examples of how you made a difference during your high school years. Student must plan to pursue a post-secondary education at a college, university, or a vocational or technical school including, but not limited to, manual trades, health care and computer technology. Factors for consideration will include, but are not limited to:  academic achievement, extra-curricular activities and leadership, community and volunteer service, financial need, as well as any other personal and family considerations.

_____    WESTERVILLE PARENT COUNCIL PTA:  A minimum of six, $500 scholarships awarded: two or more per high school depending on available funds. All students graduating from a Westerville City Schools high school are eligible and encouraged to apply. Factors for consideration will include, but are not limited to:  academic achievement, extra-curricular activities and leadership, community and volunteer service, financial need, as well as any other personal and family considerations.

_____    WESTERVILLE PARENT COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP FOR EXCEPTIONAL STUDENTS:  One, $500 Scholarship is available to a graduating student in Westerville City Schools. All students who are enrolled in the Special Education Program are encouraged to apply. Applicants for this Scholarship must have a current IEP OR 504 on file. Students must be pursuing a post-secondary education. This scholarship is based on academic achievement, community service/volunteerism, extra-curricular activities/leadership, letter of recommendation and financial needs, as well as any other personal and family considerations. The WPC Scholarship for Exceptional Students Scholarship Application MUST BE COMPLETED in lieu of the Community Scholarship Application and is available by clicking here.

_____    WESTERVILLE PARENT COUNCIL TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP:  One, $500 scholarship is available to a graduating student in Westerville City Schools. Students must plan to attend a post-secondary vocational or technical school including but not limited to manual trades, health care and computer technology. Factors for consideration will include, but not limited to:  academic achievement, extra-curriculum activities and leadership, community and volunteer service, financial need, as well as other personal and family considerations.

ELEMENTARY SCHOLARSHIPS: 
To be considered for these awards, applicants must have attended the school for which they want to be considered.

_____    ALCOTT PTA:  Alcott Elementary is offering two (2) $500 Scholarships to two students at any Westerville City Schools high school who attended Alcott Elementary for at least three years. The following criteria must be met to be eligible:  They must have attended Alcott Elementary for at least three years; they will be going to college;they must complete the Community Scholarship Application Form.

_____    CHERRINGTON PTA:  One, $500 scholarship. Must have attended Cherrington Elementary for at least two complete school years. Must have a current GPA of 2.7 or better. Please address your financial need in a 50-100
word supplement to your essay.

_____    EMERSON PTA:  Two, $500 Scholarships awarded. Student must have attended Emerson World Languages and Cultures Elementary Magnet School for at least two (2) full academic years and be accepted at a 2 or 4-year accredited college, university, technical or military academy.

Applicants must also include a short paragraph describing how Emerson Elementary School, whether it was a teacher, administrator, the curriculum or fellow students, influenced their education, view of the world or plans for their future. This short paragraph may be included separately or as part of the student’s vocational essay. If Emerson is included in your vocational essay, please note it instead of rewriting.

_____    FOUSE ELEMENTARY:  Two, $500 scholarships are available. Student must have attended Fouse for at least 3 years. Please include an additional essay stating how Fouse Elementary played a part or influenced who you are today.

_____    HANBY PTA – HANBY MAGNET SCHOOL:  One, $500 Scholarship is available. Student must have attended Hanby Arts Magnet or A&T program for a minimum of two full academic years. Student must be accepted in an accredited post-secondary program or institution by the time of scholarship disbursement. Essay requested about your time at Hanby Arts Magnet or A&T Program and how it influenced your life and career choice. Candidate should demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, community service/volunteerism and leadership potential.

_____    HANBY PTA – CENTRAL COLLEGE MAGNET SCHOOL:  One, $500 Scholarship is available. Student must have attended Central College Magnet School for a minimum of two full academic years. Student must be accepted in an accredited post-secondary program or institution by the time of scholarship disbursement. Essay is requested about your time at Central College Magnet Program and how it has impacted your life and career choice. Candidate should demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, community service/volunteerism and leadership potential. Special consideration is given to those who plan to study math, science and/or education.

_____    HANBY PTA – LONGFELLOW MAGNET SCHOOL:  One, $500 Scholarship is available. Student must have attended Longfellow Magnet School   for a minimum of two full academic years. Student must be accepted in an accredited post-secondary program or institution by the time of scholarship disbursement. Essay is requested about your time at Longfellow and how it has impacted your life and career choice. Candidate should demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, community service/volunteerism and leadership potential.

_____    HAWTHORNE PTO:  Two, $500 scholarships. Student must have attended Hawthorne for three complete academic years.

_____    HUBER RIDGE PTA:  One, $500 Scholarship is available. Student must have attended Huber Ridge Elementary for at least three years. Student must also submit a list of other scholarships for which they are applying and they must submit a 300-500 word typed essay explaining how Huber Ridge helped mold their future academic endeavor of choice.

_____    MARK TWAIN PTA:  Two, $750 Scholarships are available. Student must have attended Mark Twain for a minimum of one year. An emphasis is placed on academic achievement and community service. Please include a description of your experience at Mark Twain and any community service projects you have been involved with during your high school years.

_____    MCVAY PTA:  Two, $500 scholarships are available. Student must be graduating from Westerville City Schools High School and have attended McVay Elementary for a minimum of 3 years. Student must be accepted at an accredited college, university or vocational school or have made a military service commitment.

_____    ROBERT FROST PTA:  Two, $750 scholarships are offered to a graduating senior who resides in the Westerville City School District. Must have been accepted at a university or 2-year post high school and must have attended Robert Frost Elementary for a minimum of 2 complete academic years in grades 1-5.

_____    WHITTIER PTA:  One, $500 Scholarship is available. Student must have attended Whittier Elementary at least two (2) academic years including the 5th grade year. In addition, the student is required to submit two letters of recommendation from teachers or leaders in the community.
_____    WILDER PTA: Two, $750 Scholarships are available. Student must have attended Wilder Elementary for at least 4 school years. Students are encouraged to submit a short essay on their most memorable experience at Wilder.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS:

_____    BLENDON PTO:  Three (3), $500 scholarships will be awarded. Student must have attended Blendon Middle School for at least one academic year. Student must have at least a 3.0 cum GPA. Applicants must also include a short paragraph describing how Blendon Middle School, whether it was a teacher, administrator, fellow students, club, sport, or class, influenced their education, view of the world or plans for their future.

_____    GENOA PTSA:  Three (3), $500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors district wide. These scholarships may be based on any of the following criteria:  academic achievement, community service/volunteerism, leadership roles and personal perseverance. Applicants with a current IEP or 504 plan are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have attended Genoa Middle School for at least one full academic year. In addition to examples of criteria listed above, please also include in your essay a brief paragraph describing your favorite memory at Genoa Middle School.
_____    HERITAGE PTSA:  Three, $500 Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from either Westerville North, South or Central High Schools. Applicants must have attended Heritage MS for a minimum of one academic year and plan to attend 4 or 2 year college, training, career or technical school, a certified program, or military service. The three scholarships are outlined below.

  • One scholarship will be awarded for a Top All Around student. An all-around student is in excellent academic standing and demonstrates experience in employment, volunteerism, clubs, or other extracurricular activities. The student must submit an additional one page essay on an impactful Heritage Middle School teacher.
  • One scholarship will be awarded for a Perseverance distinction. The student will submit a one page essay on how he/she persevered through a difficult time in school, home, or in any relevant situation.
  • One scholarship will be awarded for a student who has received services from the Special Education Program. Students with a current IEP or 504 on file are encouraged to apply. The student must submit an additional one page essay explaining how the IEP or 504 has impacted his/her life.

_____    WALNUT SPRINGS PTSA:  Two, $250 scholarships are available. Student must have attended Walnut Springs Middle School for at least one complete academic year.

HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS:

_____    WESTERVILLE NORTH ATHLETIC BOOSTERS: G.O.A.L.S. Athletic Scholarship: Goals, Opportunity, Achievement, Leadership, Scholarship. A   $1000 scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female WNHS Senior student athlete. Eligibility requirements: Submission of required documents listed on the Westerville City Schools Community Scholarship Instructions page; 3.3 GPA; Participation in 1 WNHS Varsity sport; 500-word essay that describes: “How the experience as an athlete has fostered personal Goals, Opportunity, Achievement, Leadership, and importance of Scholarship. ”; Varsity Coach letter of support to WN Athletic Office, c/o Chuck Preston , by 1/10/20.

_____    WESTERVILLE NORTH PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ORGANIZATION:  At least four, $500 scholarships will be awarded. To be considered for the scholarship, WNHS student must have a 3.3 weighted cumulative GPA. Every application requires an additional essay (approximately one page) describing the student’s most memorable moment at North. If funds allow, additional scholarships will be awarded.

_____    WESTERVILLE NORTH MUSIC BOOSTERS:  Two, $500 Choir/Band/Orchestra Scholarships are available given by Westerville North Music Boosters to two separate students.

Qualified applicants must have participated for at least one year in one of the music programs at WNHS including choir, bands, marching band or orchestra. One scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a primary or secondary degree in Music and the second scholarship is open to a student pursuing any further higher education.

The student should use the general application form supplied by the District Scholarship Chair. Additionally, list on a separate sheet of paper the musical involvement (band, marching band, orchestra, choir, Notables, ensembles, etc. ) you have participated in while at Westerville North High School starting with your earliest involvement and any leadership positions held in the music program (officer, section leader, etc. ).

Please submit a 1 to 2-page essay describing how the WNHS Music program has impacted your life and why you are deserving of the WNHS Music Boosters Scholarship. Your essay should be in first person. It should be typed, double spaced and no larger than 12 pt. font. Please include the following statement at the end of the essay and sign and date below the statement. “The information provided for consideration of this scholarship is accurate to the best of my knowledge and my essay is my original work. ”

_____   WESTERVILLE NORTH THEATRE BOOSTERS: Four (or more) $500 scholarships are available. Student must have attended Westerville North for a minimum of one full academic year; must have been inducted into the International Thespian Society; must have participated in Westerville North’s Theatre Program; and must be attending college in the Fall. Student must submit a 1-2 page essay explaining how theatre has impacted his/her life and why he/she is deserving of the Westerville North Theatre Boosters Scholarship, a resume of his/her show involvement, and the Theatre Scholarship application cover page. Applications and essay are due by Friday, February 28, 2020.

SCHOLARSHIPS MAILED DIRECTLY TO DONORS:

_____    ANNEHURST PTA (through Ohio PTA):  One, $500 scholarship. Student must have attended Annehurst Elementary School for a minimum of one (3) academic years. Applicants for the Annehurst PTA scholarship should be sent to Ohio PTA, 40 Northwoods Blvd. , Ste. A, Columbus, OH 43235.

_____    OHIO PTA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  Three, $500 scholarships awarded in Ohio District #10:  One Academic Scholarship available to students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree; one Technical Scholarship available to students pursuing a 2 or 3 year approved technical, vocational or Associate’s Degree; and one Special Education Scholarship (identified with a current IEP). NOTE:  Applications for these three scholarships are to be mailed directly to Ohio PTA with a deadline date announced in January 2020 (see Ohio PTA website). DO NOT FOLLOW THE 2019-2020 COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP INSTRUCTION SHEET OR YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
