WSHS ANNOUNCEMENTS    11/15/18

Interested in playing Baseball next spring for the Wildcats?  Start attending the Winter Work-outs Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-7:30 pm in the weight room. Workouts start Thursday, November 15. 

The boys’ basketball team is in need of students to assist with filming games this year. If you are interested, please see Coach Burris or Coach Kielmeyer. 

The 19th Annual Scholarship Show is THIS SATURDAY, at 7pm.  Tickets are on sale at lunch and after school in the auditorium for $5. Don't miss this one night only event with over 150 South students!

Recycling will be picked up 9th period on the 2nd floor. Please have your bin in the hallway or your door open for it to be collected. Thank you.

Attention Members of the Superintendent's Student Advisory Committee: The committee will meet on Monday, November 19, at 2:10 p.m. in the guidance classroom. 

Next Monday, we begin collection out of homeroom for Caring and Sharing! Collection runs through December 6, and classes who collect the most will receive prizes, so let’s give to infinity and beyond this holiday season. 

Football meeting Monday 2:10 pm in room 112 of the science wing. If you are interested in playing, please plan to attend for information about the off-season. If you are currently in a winter sport, your attendance is optional. 

Got a sweet tooth? STEAM club will be meeting today after school in room 118 where we'll be making rock candy. Come and join us for a sweet time!

Tickets for the 19th annual Scholarship Show will be on sale during lunch and after school in the auditorium THIS WEEK. Tickets are $5 and we will sell out so get your tickets soon! The show is ONE NIGHT ONLY on Saturday, 11/17 at 7pm.  Be there! 

Challenge day is officially full and closed! Thank you to everyone who signed up, please report Thursday morning to the Aux gym at 7:25.  Lunch will be provided, and don't bring anything with you!  

The Westerville Warcats Varsity Hockey Team defeated Hilliard 8-4 this past Friday. Goal scorers included South's Santo Scillia and Cameron Myers. 

Warcats JV lost Saturday to Dayton 6-3, and Varsity dropped to Newark 7-4 on Saturday. 

Warcats Hockey's next home games are Varsity, Friday at 8:10 at Chiller Easton, and JV, Saturday at 6:00 at Chiller Easton. Admission is always free, so come out and support your Westerville Warcats Hockey teams!

The football banquet will be held on Tuesday, November 13 at 7:00 pm in the commons. This is for all program members 9th - 12th.

Check out the online edition of the Scribe and help your class win bragging rights!  The winning class will be announced Friday, Nov.16, and win a class photo in the upcoming November/December Issue.   

Challenge day is THIS THURSDAY. You will get a confirmation in Homeroom Wednesday. Lunch will be provided.  No permission slips will be accepted Thursday, there are a few spots left, so get your permission slips in! 

Congratulations to our students who were nominated for the Cats With Class Fall Program.  The program will be held tomorrow morning at 6:30 a.m.  Cats With Class is a program that honors students who have demonstrated acts of kindness, good school citizenship or service, which help make our school a wonderful place for learning and teaching.   We are asking all new and former Cats with Class recipients to wear your Cats with Class t-shirt on Thursday.

Attention Senior Student Athletes:  Next Wednesday November 14 is the early Signing period for Division I Basketball and all other DI & DII sports (with the exception of Football). Please notify the Athletic Department by this Friday November 9 if you plan on Signing during this early period. 

Attention anyone interested in being a part of the track & field team who is not involved in a winter sport: The weight room will be open to begin pre-season/indoor conditioning on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00 beginning this Thursday, November 8.  If you have any questions, please see Coach Gaul in room 201.

Did you know today is National STEM Day? Why not celebrate by coming to STEAM club today after school in room 118? We'll be making Foamed Saccharides with Protein Inclusions. For the unSTEM folks, that means we're making Peanut Brittle!

Boys Lacrosse lifting will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 4-5pm starting today.  Meet in the field house weight room. 

The Westerville South Band program will present their 2018 Fall Concert tonight in the WSHS Auditorium.  Students from the Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble will perform.  Come on out and enjoy a FREE concert tonight and support the arts in Westerville!  Music begins at 7:30pm.

Congratulations to Westerville South's In the Know team! Varsity and JV teams won all four matches against Tree of Life on Monday. Go Cats!

FEES - Please Note: As allowable by state law, students with outstanding fees may not be able to participate in extra-curricular activities including field trips, field day, senior class activities, dances, and athletics.  Seniors, all fees must be paid in order to receive your high school diploma.
 

- Parents, please check the Parent Portal in PowerSchool periodically to see if you have funds available.

- Dropped course(s), with fees attached, or lunch status changes may result in funds becoming available to you.

- Once in the Parent Portal, click on “Balance” on the left side of the page to see if you have funds.

- These available funds may be applied to others fees owed such as, testing fees (IB/AP), sports fees, lunch account, etc., or may, be       refunded upon request)

Attention Student Drivers.  Notices have been sent out to students who have received three or more parking tickets. (Students with permits, be sure you are parking in the correct lot.)  Effective Monday, October 15, 2018, after the 3rd parking ticket your vehicle is subject to tow.  A car that is towed will be towed at the owner's expense. Once a car has been placed on the tow list it will remain there and will be towed upon future offenses.  The current fee for towing is $143.89 (subject to change)
