ANNOUNCEMENTS 2/15/18

Yes! It's finally time for the Westerville South Black History Month show to be held February 22nd and 23rd starting at 7 p.m. Tickets will be sold during all the lunches and are being sold online at locallevelevents.com for only for $3.00. Tickets at the door will be $5.00. Also, make sure to check out the college fair on Thursday the 22nd.  

Wildcat Baseball Try-outs begin next Tuesday February 20th at 5:30 pm in the Aux Gym.  Pick up an Information sheet in the RED folder in front of the Athletic Office or a schedule from Mr. Bates in room 246.  

Recycling will be picked up after announcements on the 2nd floor. Please have your bin in the hallway or your door open for it to be collected. Thank you! 

We are only one week away from the apex of our Black History Month Celebration. Please plan to attend the Westerville South College fair. The event is next week on Thursday and will take place prior to the Black History Month show. The date is February 22 and the event will be 3:00pm to 6:00 pm. Please keep in mind the college fair is free but the cost for the show is $3.00 pre-sale. 

You may have seen those colorful posters around the school and wondered, what is Fairy Goodmothers? Well, Fairy Goodmothers is an organization which helps girls look and feel like the stars that they are for that magical night at prom. Every girl gets to meet 1 on 1 with their own fairy godmother to pick out the perfect dress, shoes, and accessories for their big night. You can schedule an appointment starting February 13th by following and messaging @Fairygoodmothers on Instagram! The drive starts March 10th. Proof of high school attendance is required for entry. Don’t need a dress, but want to help? Donate gently used dresses, shoes, and accessories to the white boxes located around the school from February 14th to March 9th. Make prom a night to remember for all! 

Eleventh grade students will have their hearing screened by school nurses on Tuesday, March 13th.  They will primarily be pulled from government or history classes on that day for the screening.  Further details will be coming. 

Would like to be part of Starry Night this year? We've got some fun and innovative ideas for how you could be involved. Come today after school to room 118 to STEAM club and find out what you could be doing! There's no commitment now, but you will be wowed by the simple technology that you could be doing. All are invited!

Applications for next year’s National Honor Society are now available in room 238. You must currently be a junior or senior and have a minimum GPA of 3.6. Applications are due Wednesday, February 21st to Mr. Schultz.

Attention everyone interested in Wildcat Track and Field: We have brief team meetings next week after school in the main gym beginning at 2:20.  The girls will meet on Tuesday, the boys on Wednesday.  Please plan on attending even if you are still involved in a winter sport or activity!  Please see Coach Gaul in room 201 if you have any questions.

Heart Health MYTH - Heart disease is for old people.  FACT - Heart disease affects women of all ages.  For younger women, the combination of birth control pills and smoking boosts heart disease risks by 20 percent.  And while the risks do increase with age, things like overeating and a sedentary lifestyle can cause plaque to accumulate and lead to clogged arteries later in life.  But even if you lead a completely healthy lifestyle, being born with an underlying heart condition can be a risk factor.
