School was cool at Cherrington Elementary on Thursday, May 10, when second grade students participated in the Beatnik Poetry Café/Coffee Shop. Poetry, jazz, and refreshments were on tap as pupils paid homage to the Beatnik Era of the 1950s by donning hats, scarves, and sunglasses, and transforming their classrooms into classic “coffee shops” and safe places to share their poems.
