Posted Date: 5/4/2012
Honors American Sign Language (ASL) students from Westerville South High School have been visiting Cherrington, McVay, and Whittier elementary schools to teach youngsters there some basic ASL signs. The high school pupils are teaching 20-minute lessons two times per week for four weeks. The much anticipated project began on April 10. South ASL teacher Kelly Modlich says it helps to increase awareness of the language and foster an understanding of deaf people. The program has been in place for about six years. Students from Westerville North also participate.
