Mrs. Findell has been teaching the Fifth Grade A and T class at Emerson since 2013.  Before that, she was a full-time mom and substitute teacher in Worthington.  Fifth grade gifted education is exactly where she belongs.

Growing up, Mrs. Findell traveled the world.  Starting in New Jersey, she then moved to Thailand, Houston, Okinawa, Chile, Connecticut, and back to New Jersey.  College and real life took her to California, Maine, Maryland, Georgia, and finally to the state with the most friendly people in the country, OHIO.

Mrs. Findell did her undergraduate work in English and Psychology at the University of California at Berkeley and then studied education at San Francisco State University. Afterwards, she worked with students with special needs as an aide and tutor.  At 27, her passion for science got the best of her and she went back to school at the University of New Hampshire and completed an intensive, research-based master’s program in Biochemistry.

Although she loved working in a laboratory setting, in 1999, Mrs. Findell became a mother.  All other pursuits had to take a back seat while she poured her heart and soul into her three children.  As the children grew and started school, Mrs. Findell found herself in classrooms all the time and was reminded of her love for working with children and their "Aha" moments.  Back to school it was.

While working as a substitute teacher, Mrs. Findell completed coursework to be licensed as a Gifted Intervention Specialist. through the University of Cincinnat  For Mrs. Findell, gifted students are an incredibly diverse and exciting population with whom to work, and she counts her blessings every day.

Mrs. Findell is a memeber of the Ohio Association for Gifted Children and the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics.  Recently, Mrs. Findell was selected to receive the 2017 Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics Elementary Teacher Award for the Central District.
