Healthy Kids Ohio is an initiative to assist practitioners in responding effectively to the epidemic of childhood obesity in Ohio. It is rooted in the program Healthy Ohio, a vision of the state to ensure optimal health for all Ohioans. Healthy Kids Ohio helps practitioners develop office systems to prevent, identify, evaluate and treat overweight and obesity in children. This work is based on a pilot project that will now have greater population impact through collaboration with the statewide Ohio Ounce of Prevention program (the Ohio chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Ohio Children's Hospital Association) and the Hamilton County WeTHRIVE! program.
Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK)is a nationwide initiative dedicated to improving the health and educational performance of children through better nutrition and physical activity in schools. This effort represents a response to our nation's epidemic of overweight, sedentary, and undernourished children and adolescents. Healthy schools produce healthy students — and healthy students are better able to learn and achieve their true potential.
