Two Westerville North High School sophomores were named winners in the annual Ohio Poetry Association Student Poetry Contest.  Natalia Szwabinsky was awarded a First Place prize for her poem in the Voices from the Ground category.  Along with a certificate, the sophomore Honors American Literature student received a check for $25.  Szwabinsky is Leslie Baumann's student.

Also receiving recognition from the Ohio Poetry Association was Madison Richards, an American Literature student in Maryann Hines's class.  Richards, a sophomore, received an Honorable Mention certificate for her work in the David Francis Smith category.

The Ohio Poetry Association is a non-profit group that works to promote an awareness of poetry, while broadening its appreciation.  They sponsor readings, workshops, contests and poetry tours throughout the state.  They recently published Everything Stops and Listens, the first statewide poetry anthology in more than 60 years.  For more information, please visit www.ohiopoetryassn.com.
