Three Westerville South Students Recognized at OSU High School Jazz Festival Print News Article
Posted Date: 4/19/2013

The 36th Annual Ohio State Jazz Festival High School Day occurred on Sunday, April 7, in Weigel Auditorium on the Columbus campus.  Three Westerville South High School students – Micah Thomas (piano), Rasaan Hollis (trumpet) and Brian Poland (trumpet) – were acknowledged by the OSU jazz faculty during the recognition ceremony held after the OSU Jazz Ensemble’s performance.  The festival panel picks students from the day’s performances to recognize as part of a “Festival Honor Band.”  Though this band never actually gets to play together, it is an honor to be singled out.

All three students are members of the Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra.  Thomas and Poland also earned full scholarships (tuition and board) to the OSU Jazz Camp in June.
