The Westerville Arts Council’s 7th annual Writing Awards recipients were honored on Sunday, April 14, at a reception held at the Westerville Public Library.  With nearly 70 entries in the high school category, all four winners for grades 9-12 are Westerville North sophomores.  Ryan Watson took first place; Morgan Pearce was second; Will Newton was third; and Rachel Long earned an honorable mention.  The students read their award-winning work at the reception and later were presented with certificates and prizes for their efforts.

The students’ work has been published in a book created by the Arts Council and sponsored by the This Week Westerville News and Public Opinion.  The first place recipient’s work also will be published in the paper.  Other prizes included copies of the book, gift certificates, journals and specialty pens.

The sophomores, students of Leslie Baumann and Maryann Hines, are all in Honors American Literature.
