Student Activities
The Warhawk Family has a variety of courses, clubs and sports. We urge you to participate! The list below provides you with the names of the activities and their advisors:
Arts Alive: Arts Alive is a group that work on creating a giant festival to showcase all of Central's visual and performaning art students. Each year it is a little different - last year we moved it outside and created over 100 chalk murals around the school! Anyone can join and participate. Planning begins in December. Advisor: Jennifer Kiko
Art Club: Art Club is a safe and interactive place for students of all skill levels and interests to create and experiment with a variet of art and media. We meet every Tuesday from 2:30 - 3:30. Advisor: Derrick Ehlen
Clay Team: Westerville Central's Clay Team competes in the spring at the OCC FEATS OF CLAY OLYMPICS. The team is comprised of 10-16 students who are passionate about the potters wheel, clay work and sculpture. Tryouts and practice start at the end of January. Advisor: Jennifer Kiko
Interact Club: Interact club is all about the community, and our motto is 'Service Above Self'. We are sponsored by Westerville Sunrise Rotary, who help us with a few of the many projects we do each and every year. Last year, we held a canned food drive, raising 1,000 cans! We also participated in Service Day 2011, cleaning up outside an elderly woman's home. Interact Club was very involved at Fouse Elementary, tutoring 4th graders. In the future, we will be holding 'Hats for Heroes', charging $1 for a student to wear a hat to school. The money will then be donated to the Westerville Honor Flight Fund, sending veterans of World War II to Washington to visit Arlington National Cemetary and the World War II Monument. We will also be starting 'Shoe boxes for Troops'. Students at WCHS will fill a shoe box with a few supplies needed overseas, we will send them over , and the student will receive a raffle ticket giving them the chance to win a big prize! Interact is always open to new members, and ideas. Be sure to add us on Facebook at: Westerville Central Interact Club! We will give you updates on new events, and volunteer opportunities. Advisor: Mike Mahoney
Invisible Children: A non-profit organization that was created to raise awareness and money to help the people of Uganda, who have been devastated by a long running but unpublicized war in Northern Uganda. The Invisible Children Club at Central was created to raise awareness and money to help all parts of Africa, although our focus is on the conflict in and around Northern Uganda. Advisor: Don Ogle
Junior Class Officiers: Elected representatives from the Junior class are primarily responsible for organizing and executing the production of the Junior/Senior Prom which takes place each year in early May. As a means of supporting this well-attended, annual event, the junior class officiers also organize school fund-raising activities and are responsible for aspects of junior class meetings throughout the year. Advisors: Natalie Taylor and Lauren Pratt
Key Club: Key Club is an international, student-led organization that is part ofthe Kiwanis family The club provides its members with opportunities to volunteer, build character, and develop leadership. Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. Each year our members volunteer for over 1,000 hours of service in events such as Trick or Treat for UNICEF, Caring and Sharing, Pennies for Patients, and other local events with Genoa Township and Westerville Parks and Recreation. Key Club meets every Monday in room 2301 at 2:15. The length of meetings varies depending on the amount of projects we are involved in at that time. Most meetings are over by 2:45.
