Deanna Wilson, Secretary
This office, under the direction of the Department of Administrative Services, is responsible for the following:
Enrollment and Family Resource Center
The Enrollment and Family Resource Center provides our school district families with the opportunity to enroll all children of that family, who may be attending different schools, at one time and one convenient location. Our specially trained staff guides families through the process of enrolling students, facilitating the address changes of families, researching school district residency falsification concerns, monitoring parental court custody changes impacting our students, providing enrolling students with access to English as a Second Language (ESL) screenings for educational placement, as well as, surrounding our families with liaison support for our non-English speaking families.
Responsible for providing meals that are nutritious and appealing to students and staff in a safe, sanitary and welcome environment while containing costs. All meals are designed to meet one-third of a student's caloric needs. The operation is fully self-funded and uses no general fund dollars.
Monitors the availability of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), located in all of our school buildings and administrative buildings, the district-wide CPR in Schools partnership to promote the training of CPR for students, staff and community members, and pandemic flu emergency response, coordinated through the Franklin County Board of Health.
Homeless Children & Youths (McKinney-Vento Act)
Responsible for the enrollment of homeless students as specified in the district's policy, as well as providing services to students made homeless by a variety of situations, including disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, floods, and terrorists attacks.
Works to ensure that those students whose parents truly reside in the Westerville School District receive the benefits of an excellent school district that operates on a fiscally conservative budget. The high caliber academics offered in the Westerville School District attracts those individuals who falsify residency. We discourage this practice through investigations and available legal remedies.
Coordinates the annual review of the District Crisis Manual that contains the board policies and administrative procedures to follow in a school emergency, the implementation of district-wide school safety drills, the up-to-date education in crisis management for school administrators and their staffs, as well as training in threat assessment teaming.
Serves to coordinate the district code of student conduct and the application of those policies that govern student behavior, up to and including school and/or bus suspension appeals and expulsion and/or exclusion hearings.
