Westerville South High School sophomore Daria Lesmerises is a member of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Conservation Teen Advisory Council (ConTAC), which brings high school leaders across the state together to enhance ODNR’s youth outreach and program efforts.

The council is made up of more than 60 high school students who are interested in natural resource conservation, outdoor outreach or wildlife and making a positive impact within the Buckeye State.

Lesmerises served as a zoo aide at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium over summer, volunteering more than 60 hours in various spots around the zoo. During winter break, she will travel to Forfar Field Station on Andros Island, Bahamas to learn more about the environment and marine studies. The trip, coordinated by the Columbus Zoo, gives students a chance to study the ocean, coral reefs, climate change, and conservation programs.
