August 31 was a day to remember for Westerville Central High School paraprofessional Krishna Bajgai.  Before a packed classroom of English as a Second Language students, the beloved educator was stunned when officials from Western Governor’s University (WGU) Ohio showed up to surprise him with a giant scholarship check in the amount of $2,000.  He will use the money to further his studies.  He called the event “the most life changing, motivational surprise” he has ever experienced.

WGU Ohio was established in 2018 as a partnership between Western Governors University and the State of Ohio with a unique mission to help Ohioans obtain a quality education.  Nineteen U.S. governors founded Western Governors University in 1997 after the idea was formulated at a 1995 meeting of the Western Governors Association.  The university uses a competency-based learning model, with students working online in a self-paced learning format to earn degrees focused leading to in-demand careers in education, health care, information technology, and business.
