December 2009 in review
On November 23 at Hanby Arts Magnet School, fifth grade students and their preschool buddies came together to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast. Seventy-seven International Baccalaureate Science students at Westerville South built dwellings using only cardboard boxes and recycled materials. Heritage Middle School Service Club members made blankets for the My Very Own Blanket organization to help children in foster care feel comforted. Members of The Ohio State University Alumni Marching Band performed on Hyper Friday, November 20, for Mark Twain students.  The highlight of Young Authors Day at Fouse Elementary School was a performance conducted by classically trained Mime artist Tom Johnson.  Alcott Elementary students got to purchase gifts at school on December 8 when the Media Center was transformed into a Holiday Shop. The Westerville Special Needs PTA held its annual holiday party on December 4.  Justin A. took the opportunity to peek through a snowman’s button. English students at Westerville North got a first-hand look at Renaissance clothing made by professional costume designer Kit Matulich. Emerson World Languages & Cultures Magnet School entertained a number of Indonesian guests on Monday, December 7. First grade students from Alcott Elementary performed 18 multi-cultural winter holiday songs before a packed auditorium at Westerville Central on December 11.
