Dear Wildcat Families,
We have had an amazing first semester at Westerville South. Throughout this fall, and with the start of winter seasons, we have seen a new group of seniors take the lead in a positive way. I look forward to seeing what second semester has in store for our school under the guidance of the class of 2018. We have challenged our senior class members to ensure that they each have a spot at graduation which will be held on May 26th at 10:00 am at the Celeste Center. In order to do that, all seniors must excel in the classroom by passing required classes and making sure alternative pathways are met and mandated tests are passed. Graduation is the most important thing we do.
Our teaching staff continues to focus on it's purpose, our students. We have spent time once again this year with an emphasis on collaboration and argument writing. Our staff has also begun to study Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and honing techniques to better reach students with triggers related. And piggybacking on last year, we are still finding better, more effective ways to use technology for student success. I know that many of our staff members share the same "why" when asked about their purpose. The answer is simple. We want our students to have futures that allow them to be prosperous.
To close, I want our entire school community to know what a privilege it is to serve in Westerville. We will continue to make decisions best for students and to help each learn and grow in the process. Please keep an eye out second semester for more positive outreach from our Pawsitivity Project. We have so many amazing students doing amazing things. I wish each student and family a safe and happy holiday season and thank everyone for the support needed to lead a large high school. I hope to see you all at a game or an event very soon.
