Attention all students! Do you like donuts? How about helping your school & community? If so, student council is hosting a Boxtop drive from Dec. 4-15. The winning seminar gets a donut party! Make sure you give valid Box tops to your seminar teacher!

 

Science Olympiad

Attention Science Olympiad team members, our next meeting is this Thursday, December 14th, after school from 3-4pm, in Mrs. Simpson's room 309. Make sure to bring a snack and any supplies you need to be working on for your events. See you then!

 

NJHS

Do you want a chance to win mini candy canes, fruity candy canes, or even doughnuts??? You’re in luck! NJHS is holding a WARM canned food drive starting on Monday, the 11th. WARM is an organization set on helping the homeless or less fortunate get on their feet. Turn in any of the items on the screen into your seminar teacher to earn the listed number of points and help those in need. (insert point values and their items). There’s only 3 winners in the entire school!! Also, don’t forget to decorate your seminar’s door with cans and winter in mind for a chance to win double points! NJHS members will choose their favorite door from each grade based on the following categories. Best use of space, Best use of media/material, Overall message or best representation of theme, Best use of can incorporation. You have only one week to decorate door starting on December 11, and memes, profanity, and specific holiday aspects are not allowed.

J-POP Club

Our annual Japanese holiday food festival will be held after school this Friday, December 15th in room 334. Please join us in making and sampling Japanese-style noodles, sushi, tofu, desserts, and other snack foods. Please turn in your $5.00 participation fee to Mrs. Sunday prior to attending this special event. Make sure your rides are here no later than 4:15 pm. Arigato!

Basketball

8th Grade-Boys

The 8th grade boys' basketball team won again last night 43-25 by defeating Olentangy Shanahan. Leading the Wolves in scoring was Noah Lawrence with 19 points followed by Andrew Scurlock with 10 points.  Shout out to the cheerleaders for doing a great job!  The 7th and 8th grade boys' basketball teams both play at home this Thursday against Gahanna West. Tip off is at 5:00 p.m.

The 7th grade boys also beat Shanahan last night in a hard fought game. 

 

8th Grade-Girls

The 8th grade Lady Wolves basketball team visited Olentangy Shanahan last night.  Scoring for the Lady Wolves was Breea W., Emily F., and Chloe R.  Leading rebounder for the game was Kyra R. with 13 rebounds.

 

7 Grade- Girls

The 7th grade Lady wolves lost to Shanahan last night in a close game.

Mr. Vilanova would like to congratulate the 7th and 8th grade bands and the jazz band on a wonderful concert last night. You all performed beautifully and behaved like professionals. Congratulations on a great night of music making!

We need your help spreading cheer to those unable to spend the holidays at home. Please make a holiday card or cards for Columbus’s kids and adults in hospitals and nursing homes. You may use any media to create your cards so get creative and spread some love!

Over 900 cards were  donated in 2016 and we would love to top that!

 

Please place your cards in the envelope hanging outside of Ms. Trueman’s room by Friday, December 15th.

The 7th grade boys basketball team also beat Gahanna east last night.

The 7th grade Lady wolves beat Gahanna East last night 32- 23 lead by great defense by Kayla C and two great steals by Jaya B. Scoring for the wolves were Cori B, Tamara O, and Kayla C. 

 

8th-Boys Basketball

The 8th grade boys' basketball team rolled to a big win last night 64-31 against Gahanna East. Leading the wolves in scoring was Noah Lawrence with an amazing 24 points. The 7th and 8th grade boys' basketball teams both play at home this Thursday against the New Albany Eagles.  Tip off is at 5:00pm.

It is not too late to join Spirit Club!  Members of the Spirit Club read and discuss diverse, award-winning books.  They will also be helping Mr. C. plan the Black History Month celebration.  So, if you’d like to be involved, stop by the CFI classroom TODAY during period 7 / 8.

 

This whole week is Computer Science Education Week and, to celebrate, Mrs. Trimble is holding an “Hour of Code” on Wednesday, December 6th in the CFI classroom.  Stop by during your study hall and choose from over 100 different games to practice coding.

Congratulations to the student team of Josie Gruber, Caroline Tenney, Ben Gableman, and Mia Eisma who were nominated by the rest of the students for having the best Migration Push, Pull and Cultural Traits Poster!

Mr. Vilanova would like to congratulate the 6th grade band and the Jazz Band on their first concert last night. Everyone did a wonderful job and were so professional. Bravo!

Stop eating in the mornings in café. Smashed juice boxes are all over the floor for last week with juice everywhere. This has to STOP.

NJHS will be meeting on today during period 9/10 in the CFI Classroom to finish the items from Thursdays meeting. Please stop by Mrs. Douridas' room at the beginning of 9/10 if you need a Front of the Line pass. 

 

CFI

Stop by the CFI today for a Zip Line Adventure!  One of Santa’s elves was caught spying on Mrs. Trimble in the CFI and accidentally became stranded on a bookshelf! Test your knowledge of forces in motion and gravity, as well as time and velocity!  Your mission is to design and build a vehicle to carry the elf down a zip line to safety.  The following math and science teachers are willing to give extra credit or homework points or a free homework pass to individuals or teams of three who successfully complete the entire challenge: Hubble, Koebel, McCoy, Simpson and Soisson.  

 

It is not too late to join Spirit Club!  Members of the Spirit Club read and discuss diverse, award-winning books.  They will also be helping Mr. C. plan the Black History Month celebration.  So, if you’d like to be involved, stop by the CFI classroom on tomorrow, Tuesday, December 5th during period 7 / 8.

This weekend our wrestling team traveled to Buckeye Valley for the Brandon Wade Team Duals where they won 3 matches and lost 1.  Beating Westerville Heritage 75 to 9, Delaware Dempsy 48 to 36, Amanda Clear Creek 54 to 36 and losing to Hasting 39 to 43.

OWjL Camp

The OWjL Camp or the Ohio Wesleyan University Junior League of Columbus Camp, is a residential summer camp program of challenge and enrichment for central Ohio's gifted and talented middle school students currently in grades 6, 7 and 8. It is held in June on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, OH. Campers attending OWjL Camp select courses from an academic program that includes science, math,computing,humanities and the performing arts. Basketball-Girls

The 7th grade Lady Wolves beat Olentangy Berkshire last night by a score of 28-24 scoring for the wolves were Tamara O, Kayla C. Cori B. and Natalie P. The Girls are home tomorrow night against Liberty. Come out and support your wolves. 

 

"The 8th Grade Lady Wolves Basketball team showed great improvement last night against Olentangy Berkshire.  They played with tremendous effort and intensity throughout the game.  Scoring for the Lady Wolves were Emily F., Carli B., Ansley E., and Kyra R."

 

Basketball-Boys

The 7th grade boys basketball team beat Olentangy Berkshire last night with a great team effort. 

 

The 8th grade boys' basketball team started their season night night against a tough Olentangy Berkshire team and came away victorious with a final score of 48-38. Leading the Wolves in scoring was Caleb I. with 17 points, followed by Jakyren G. and Andrew S. with 15 and 10 points. Their next game is this Thursday at Olentangy Liberty.  The first home game of the season for both 7th and 8th grade boys' basketball is coming soon and should not be missed.

Attention 7th Grade Students

The 7th Grade Field Trip to the Chiller is today! Please remember to bring a sack lunch with a disposable drink unless you requested a sack lunch from the cafeteria. In addition, the concessions area will be available for snacks.

The Chiller staff recommends that skaters dress warmly and in layers. The rink side temperature is between 40 & 50 degrees. Mittens or gloves are  suggested to keep hands warm. Thanks and we will see you at the Chiller!!

CFI

A lot of library books are being found in the cafeteria, in the band room, in the hallways, and on random shelves in classrooms.  Students, REMEMBER, when you borrow a book from the library you are responsible for returning the book to the library within two weeks.  If a book you borrowed gets damaged or lost -  YOU are responsible for the cost to replace that book.  Don't let your friends have your borrowed book and don't leave your borrowed book laying around the building.  Please be responsible.
