Good day and Happy Sunday, Heritage MS Families!
I hope this message finds you doing well and enjoying your weekend–even though it’s been a little on the chilly side! I want to thank everyone in advance for a great week–because it’s the week before Spring Break. As always, we’re not counting down the days; rather, we’re making every day count at HMS! Please remind your Husky that the expectations this week are the same as every week during the school year. Let’s go into Spring Break knowing that we did our best because we HOWLed for success (by being Helpful, taking Ownership, Working together, and Learning daily)--and we did all of that with plenty of Husky PRIDE!
Here are some Husky Happenings and Information for the week of March 20-24, 2023:
-
Here is the #HuskyStrong Word of the Week video, which is about ABILITY. Check it out and then submit your answer on the #HuskyStrong Google Form. The Word of the Week Google Form is also in your Counselor Connection Course in Schoology! Every submission gets your House 10 points! We’re starting a new House race for the 4th 9 weeks, so let’s keep helping our Houses, Huskies!
-
Ohio State Tests (OSTs) information for all #HuskyStrong Families:
-
Check out this OST letter from the district, which contains the testing dates by grade level and subject area. Keep the OST testing dates in mind when scheduling morning appointments or evening activities for your scholar.
-
Review the information in this test strategies document, which is also being reviewed in classes at HMS.
-
Contact your student’s teachers and counselor if you have any questions, concerns, etc. about the OSTs.
-
It’s See Something, Say Something Week, a week with activities that help us recognize something that we should be doing throughout the year: saying something to a trusted adult if we see or hear something unsafe or threatening to the school or community environment. This can be face-to-face, online, etc. Please remind your Husky about the importance of See Something, Say Something!
-
On Friday, March 24, students will have the chance to raise money to help cure childhood cancer by wearing pajamas! That’s right! Every Husky who brings $1 to their 1st period class on Friday can wear school appropriate pajamas and raise funds for the Friends of Faith Pruden Foundation and the Faith Pruden Memorial Scholarship. Faith Pruden was a WCS student who lost her battle with Childhood Cancer in 2010. She asked her first grade teacher to never let people forget her, so she started a scholarship in her name specifically for Westerville high school students and support for Nationwide Children's Hospital "cancer kids" and their families.
-
Scheduling updates and Summer Enrichment opportunities! Check out these documents for more information: Summer Academy Enrichment and High School Summer Course Registration.
-
Husky “Next Level” Athletics this week! Best of luck to our HMS scholar-athletes--and to all of our Huskies who also participate in club sports!
We appreciate everything you do on the homefront to support us at the school house. It definitely takes a team to stay #HuskyStrong all year long together! Keep your eyes on the prize and seize every day with kindness, excellence, safety, and Husky PRIDE! Let’s keep HOWLing for Success!
#HuskyStronger Together,
Dr. Tomlin and your Heritage MS Family
