Who was Benjamin Hanby?
Though Benjamin Hanby only lived to the age of 33, he is remembered as one of America's greatest composers. From his home in Westerville he composed over 80 folks songs, including his most popular, "Darling Nelly Gray" which was a hit during the Civil War. The song he is most known for however is "Up on the Housetop," the Christmas tune sung around the world.
