Dear Hanby Families,
Happy New Year to all!! It is hard to believe that the year 2019 has started and that we have almost reached the midpoint of the school year! I hope that everyone had a restful and relaxing break and is ready to get 2019 off to a great start! While students have covered a lot of information and participated in many activities the past few months, there is still a lot more to do, learn and explore during the upcoming semester. This is also the time of year where we may make resolutions and set goals for the upcoming year. Please take some time to talk with your child about their school goals. Celebrate past successes and develop a plan of action for any areas in which they set the goal to improve! Continue to partner with your child's teacher in your child's education and on achieving any goals that are set! It is true that Together Everyone Achieves More and we are grateful to you for teaming up with Hanby!
Also a reminder that as the weather continues to be unpredictable, district guidelines state that students will have outdoor recess any time it is 20 degrees or higher (with wind chill). It is very important that students dress appropriately for the weather! Warm coats, hats, and gloves are a must! At times it can be difficult to gauge the weather from the morning to the afternoon-so it is a good idea to have your child keep these items in their bookbags so they are readily available! Please also make sure to label these items-even the older students misplace things and we want items to get back to their rightful owner!
In closing, past data indicates that there tends to be a decline on student attendance during the winter months. Obviously, illness can not be helped and we want anyone who is sick to get well. However, we do ask that whenever possible that you try and schedule well checks and dental appointments around school hours. Please also keep your eye on the weekly email from the Hanby Office- the Hanby Happenings, which will notify you of school wide events and upcoming testing dates and times! Continue to check in with your child's teacher as well regarding important classroom specific activities and testing dates. Thank you in advance for your continued support with ensuring students are here on time, each and every day ready to learn! We appreciate you for all that you do!
